The Acheiropoietos is one of the oldest churches in Thessaloniki — a living journey to the origins of the Christian church building.

History & architecture

It is a three-aisled early-Christian basilica of the 5th century, built almost on top of Roman baths. It is among the oldest surviving Christian monuments in the city, in good condition.

Imposing colonnades with marble capitals and surviving mosaics on the arches, with plant and geometric motifs.
