Papafi

After Panepistimio the line leaves the historic centre and enters the densely populated eastern districts. Papafi is the first of them.

Where it puts you

In a typical Thessaloniki neighbourhood: apartment blocks, bakeries, grill houses and cafés serving residents rather than visitors. The area takes its name from the Papafeio, the historic institution that dominates it.

Good to know

This isn't a stop for sights. It is useful, though, if you're staying to the east or want to see what the city looks like beyond its shop window.
